Welcome to the Pradier
Numismatic Literature
web site, serving the collector of Numismatic books,
periodicals,
auction catalogues and Numismatics in general. I have been a collector
of Numismatic Literature for the past 8 years. During this
time I have
come in contact with many other collectors and dealers who have a great
appreciation for Numismatic Literature.
The purpose of
this web site is to share information with others who
have an
appreciation for Numismatic Literature and Numismatics in general.
I will provide herein links to numismatic literature dealers,
bibliographic resources, numismatic organizations, and educational
sites that I have both dealt with professionally or have an interest in.
I am currently a member of the Numismatic Bibliomania Society and have had the
opportunity to write and have published a few articles for the
society’s journal 'The Asylum'.
I highly recommend that anyone with an interest in numismatic
literature to join the society and subscribe to the societies
electronic newsletter 'The Esylum'.
I am also a member of the following organizations:
American
Numismatic Association
Life
Member No. 5645
American Numismatic Society
Royal Numismatic Society
British Numismatic Society
For those of you who are new to the subject
of numismatics a brief definition follows:
Numismatics(nu·mis·mat·ics)
is the scientific study of money and its history in all its varied
forms. While numismatists are often characterized as studying coins,
the discipline also includes the study of banknotes, stock
certificates, medals, medallions, and token coins (also referred to as
Exonumia).
One of the best resources and pleasures of coin
collecting is the building of a numismatic library. Used book shops,
coin shops, on-line sellers, coin shows, and auctions are great sources
of both old and new books. Auction catalogs can also be sources of a
great deal of useful information. Books are wonderful, and it would be
a dull world and hobby without them.
